On Thursday, February 3, Cyndi died quietly of cancer. Her transition was peaceful; her life on earth was full. Three areas will give an understanding of the quiet of her passing: 1) her husband, children, and extended family, 2) her prayer life, and 3) her concern for others.
Cyndi and her husband, Gavin, loved one another with the Songs-of-Solomon (See O.T. in Bible) kind of love. They both sourced their strength and perseverance from God. Despite difficulties, neither complained but focused on what could be done in each situation. They were committed to their life together.
When chemo turned her complexion from caramel to a brownish charcoal prior to the COVID quarantine in 2020, Cyndi did not change her plans to attend a Christian women’s conference. When an invitation to come forward for prayer was made, Cyndi unself-consciously, in royalty-like poise walked down the aisle to the altar.  Prayer had gotten her through years of cancer bouts and daily she expected prayer to sustain her. Eventually, her caramel complexion returned.
When the COVID pandemic necessitated a quarantine in March 2020, the extended family of Cyndi’s husband, Gavin, immediately started a Sunday evening prayer conference call to keep in touch with one another and to have prayer. However, anyone could be on the call. The time was only 15-20 minutes, but the Holy Spirit was (and is) present on each call. Cyndi was on most of the calls. She asked for prayer before procedures or when pain was excruciating; such was her pain level in the latter part of 2021. On one Sunday, Cyndi shared that on the phone was a young woman who was overwhelmed by the difficulties in her life. Cyndi had listened to her story, talked with her, and had invited her to the conference call prayer. Immediately all minds, hearts and the prayer were given on behalf of the young woman and her circumstances. Cyndi put aside her own pain.
Please know that Cyndi was very human and subject to human fallacies as we all are, but she was serious about her faith and love for Jesus Christ, loved her husband, her immediate and extended families. She loved life!
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14, NIV
