Your passing caused great sorrow,
And true solemnity.
I loved you like I loved my child.
Yes, you were that to me.
I know that you are now with God.
I know you hurt no more,
But somehow heartache grips me,
For reasons I’ll explore.
You made your Dad and I feel joy.
Sometimes you caused us grief,
But all in all we cherished you,
With love that never ceased.
A day at school, great Cedar Dale,
Was fun for you and them.
They looked for your proud entrance.
They loved your “diva” whims.
Bark Market days brought leisure,
As they your “locks” did trim.
They let you sleep while drying,
For you, their lights did dim.
You hated gunshots and the like,
When hunters were nearby.
You hid in Mommu’s closet.
In there, no need to cry.
Without you tears will leave my eyes.
In time, I’ll get a grip.
Until then thoughts of you will cause,
Sad words to leave my lips.
I love you Sanford of the Lake.
I’m proud to be your mother.
I’ll miss you ‘til the day I die,
You’re not like any other.
Good bye.
Sanford of the Lake
