A Glimpse of Dubai, UAE

Dubai is the name of one of the seven United Arab Emirates (UAE) countries and is also the name of the capital city of the second largest country of the UAE. In population size, Dubai is between New York City (8.8 million) and Philadelphia (1.6 million) with a population of 3.33 million. Dubai is a futuristic city of stunning architectural splendor where the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, reaches over 124 stories towards the clouds and is surrounded by other high office structures, hotels, combinations of these two, residential space and a colossal shopping mall. Building after building is an architectural wonder stretching skyward in proximity to one another. The hot, hot, hot sun rays bounce off the glass, steel, and concrete structures of awe-inspiring, artistic-form; they proclaim a centuries-old love of art inherent in the culture of the people of the UAE.

The large urban population moves about in metro trains, taxis, or Uber vehicles. The sleekly designed trains are meticulously clean and on-schedule. This transportation is unique in that on each train there is a car for women and children only as well as mixed-gender cars. Metro stations are huge and have multiple exits. Due to the intense heat, walking any distance beyond two or three blocks is not recommended; this is further underscored by the absence of abundant sidewalks.

There was a creek that dredging made a river that separates old and new Dubai. Evening dinner cruises give a view of domed-mosques, bridges, and the city skyline. Trading boats, called dhows, are used for commercial shipments of televisions, furniture, and foods between the Persian Gulf (Arabian Gulf), East Africa, coasts of Eastern Arabia, Yemen, and South Asia.

The city of Dubai is a wondrous sight to behold and a vibrant life to experience.
